قلادة ملكية
القلادة الملكية أو الميدالية الملكية (بالإنجليزية: Royal Medal)، وتعرف أيضًا بـ قلادة الملكة (بالإنجليزية: The Queen's Medal)، هي قلادة من الفضة المطلية بالذهب تمنحها الجمعية الملكية سنويًا على النحو التالي:
- قلادتان "لأهم الإسهامات في تقدم المعارف الطبيعية"
- قلادة "للإسهامات البارزة في العلوم التطبيقية"
الملك جورج الرابع
وذلك في نطاق دول الكومنولث.[1]
ابتدع القلادة الملك جورج الرابع ومُنحت للمرة الأولى سنة 1826. وكانت تُمنح في البداية قلادتان فحسب، كلتاهما لأكثر الاكتشافات أهمية خلال العام المنصرم، ثم زيدت الفترة الزمنية إلى الخمس سنوات المنصرمة، وعُدلت لاحقًا إلى ثلاث سنوات.
في سنة 1837 عُدلت شروط منح القلادة بإضافة الرياضيات إلى العلوم التي تُمنح فيها القلادة، وجُعل منحها في مجال الرياضيات كل ثلاث سنوات[1]، وفي سنة 1850 عُدلت الشروط ثانية على النحو التالي:

تُمنح القلادات الملكية كل عام لأهم إسهامين في تقدم المعارف الطبيعية نُشرا في الأصل في نطاق البلاد الخاضعة لسلطان صاحبة الجلالة خلال مدة لا تزيد عن عشر سنوات ولا تقل عن سنة من تاريخ المنح، وذلك ـ بالطبع ـ مرهون بتصديق جلالتها.... ويكون منح القلادات الملكية بواقع واحدة لكل من الفرعين الرئيسين للمعارف الطبيعية.[1] |  |
في سنة 1965 استقر نظام القلادة على وضعه الحالي، حيث خُصصت ثلاث قلائد يمنحها عاهل البلاد سنويًا بتوصية من مجلس الجمعية الملكية. وتنقسم لجنة اختيار الفائزين بالقلادة ـ نظرًا لطبيعتها المزدوجة ـ إلى قسمين "أ" و"ب".[1] وقد مُنحت القلادة 405 مرات منذ ابتداعها سنة 1826.
