روبرت فيشر تومز

ولد تومِز في ويستون أون آفون واشتغل بالزراعة في ولفورد، غلوسترشير. كان متخصصًا في الخفافيش، وصف عددًا من الأنواع الجديدة. تضمنت كتاباته أقسامًا عن الحشرات والخفافيش في الطبعة الثانية من تاريخ توماس بيل لذوات الأربع.

تضاءل اهتمامه بعلم الطيور، واستقال من اتحاد علماء الطيور البريطاني عام 1866. وكانت مساهماته في تاريخ مقاطعة فيكتوريا هي أعماله الوحيدة في علم الطيور.[1]

بعد وفاته دفن تومز في ساوث ليتلتون، ورشستر. تم بيع مجموعته من الثدييات إلى متحف التاريخ الطبيعي، وتم وضع مجموعته من الطيور في متحف في ورسيستر.
